Introduction

The WhatsApp Flow Agent introduces a powerful, visual conversation builder that allows you to design structured interactions for your WhatsApp agents. Instead of relying on AI for free-form replies, this feature enables you to wire a graph of various node types, ensuring deterministic and auditable conversations. It solves the challenge of creating predictable and guided user experiences on WhatsApp for specific use cases.

Feature Highlights

  • Visual Conversation Builder: Design complex conversational flows using a drag-and-drop interface with 19 distinct node types, including messages, buttons, forms, conditions, and API calls.
  • Deterministic Interactions: Guide users through predefined paths, ensuring predictable responses and consistent user experiences for structured tasks like bookings, lead qualification, and support triage.
  • Two-Way Handoff: Seamlessly transition conversations between the Flow Agent, AI agents, and human staff, allowing for flexible escalation and collaboration within a single chat.
  • Native WhatsApp Interactivity: Leverage full WhatsApp capabilities with quick-reply buttons, list menus, forms with validation, date/time and location capture, image input, and multi-select options.
  • Persistent Conversation State: The conversation's current position within the flow graph is saved per-conversation, allowing users to resume interactions exactly where they left off.
  • Immediate Button/Template Action: Users can tap on old buttons or template quick-replies at any point in the conversation, and the system will immediately honor the action, preventing users from getting stuck.

How to Use

  1. Open a WhatsApp Agent and set its type to "Flow Agent".
  2. Drag nodes from the sidebar onto the canvas and connect them with edges starting from the Start node.
  3. Configure each node's content in the side config panel (message text, buttons, form fields, API details, etc.).
  4. Optionally add Template trigger rows on the Start node so a WhatsApp template's Quick-Reply button jumps straight into a specific point in the flow, regardless of where the conversation currently is.
  5. Save and publish — every inbound message on that agent's number is now driven by this graph.

Example Workflow

A customer initiates a chat with a support agent on WhatsApp to book a service. The Flow Agent guides them through a series of steps: first, it presents a list of available services. Once the customer selects a service, the flow prompts them for their preferred date and time using a date/time input node. Next, an API call node checks for availability. If available, the flow confirms the booking and sends a confirmation message. If not, it offers alternative slots. Throughout this process, if the customer taps an old "Change Service" button, the flow immediately jumps back to the service selection node, allowing them to easily modify their choice without disruption.

Result

Users can now design and deploy highly structured, predictable, and interactive WhatsApp conversations using a visual, no-code builder. This enables precise control over user journeys, efficient data collection, and seamless escalation to AI or human agents, ultimately enhancing the customer experience and operational efficiency for structured WhatsApp interactions.
