Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)

You now have full control over who on your team can see and do what inside KIPPS. With Role-Based Access Control, every team member gets exactly the permissions their role requires — nothing more, nothing less.

What's New

  • Roles & Permissions — Assign predefined roles (Admin, Manager, Staff, Viewer, Billing) to team members with scoped permissions per feature
  • Granular Access Control — Gate individual platform features: chat agents, WhatsApp agents, voice agents, campaigns, analytics, API keys, and more
  • Team Management UI — Invite members, assign roles, and manage your team directly from the platform
  • Role-Based UI Gating — Menu items, pages, and actions are automatically hidden or disabled based on the logged-in user's permissions
  • Instant Permission Updates — Changes to a member's role take effect immediately across the platform
  • Full Audit Log — Every permission change is tracked and logged for accountability

What This Solves

Previously:

  • All team members had the same level of access regardless of their role
  • There was no way to restrict sensitive areas like billing, API keys, or analytics from junior team members
  • Admins had no visibility into who changed what on the platform

This led to:

  • Security risk from overly broad access
  • Accidental changes to agent configurations by the wrong team members
  • No accountability trail for platform actions

Now, every action on the platform is gated by role, and every change is logged.

Roles Available

  • Admin — Full access to all platform features and settings
  • Manager — Access to agents, campaigns, inbox, and analytics
  • Staff — Access to inbox and day-to-day operational features
  • Viewer — Read-only access across all analytics and logs
  • Billing — Access to billing, usage, and payment settings

How to Use

  1. Go to Organisation Settings → Team Members in the sidebar.
  2. Click Invite Member and enter their email address.
  3. Assign a Role from the dropdown during the invite.
  4. The invited member will receive an email and join with the correct permissions automatically.
  5. To change a role, click Change Role next to any team member and select the new role.

Why This Matters for Your Business

Security by Default

No one gets access they don't need. Sensitive features like API key management and billing are locked down to admins only.

Confident Delegation

Let your team work independently without worrying about accidental misconfigurations or unauthorised changes.

Full Accountability

The audit log gives managers complete visibility into who changed what and when — essential for compliance and operations.

Key Benefits

  • Secure — Principle of least privilege enforced across the platform
  • Scalable — Works for teams of any size
  • Instant — Role changes take effect immediately, no re-login required
  • Transparent — Audit log tracks all permission changes
